Description

Faint obverse target toning with a splash of aquamarine on top create a beguiling toning halo right over Pope Pius XI's head. The reverse is similarly target toned but thinner and darker, and also synchronistic, as though intentionally accenting the prow of Saint Peter's boat with a silvery glow.
It is worth mentioning that this is the single highest graded 1931 X 5 lire with NGC or PCGS – a condition R-8 on the Sheldon Rarity Scale!
