I was a Dealer For & Sold YOMEGA YO-YO in My Old Toy Store that I operated in Central Illinois from 1998-2001 : During The Grand Old Days of Yomega, Black Mamba, Duncan, Pokemon, Furby's, Color Game Boys, etc.
In advance of Christmas 2022 I'm offering some of our left over NEW VINTAGE Store Stock that's been kept in my clean office storage.
This eBay auction is for the COMPLEX SET: ONE BAI DAI GOLD FIRESTORM "FAUX YOMEGA" YO-YO & ONE AUTHENTIC STRAIGHT FROM THE YOMEGA FACTORY, GOLD YOMEGA FIRESTORM YO-YO with RED EDGES (SEE PHOTO #3).
In 1999, YOMEGA's price for their FIRESTORM Yo-Yo's was considered pricey for kids. So Ban Dai got contracts with Wal-Mart & K-Mart to sell a "FAKE" made in China version they called "FIRESTORM Yomega". Those Ban Dai models were NOT AUTHENTIC YOMEGA's, at all. Yet they sold VERY WELL for Wal-Mart & K-Mart.
At My Old Toy Store, we were YOMEGA DEALERS. WE SOLD AUTHENTIC MADE IN THE U.S.A. YOMEGA'S, until people preferred the cheaper discount store "FAKE" models from China, that were half price. So then we carried both models. It was a COMPLEX & CONFUSING time. Ultimately Yomega "bought out" the Ban Dai fake models. I've no idea why Yomega never sued Ban Dai for stealing the BOTH the Yomega name AND the Yomega LOGO, but the World was very different back in 1999.
